“Dance Hong Kong: Our City”

HKDance’s 2026/27 Dance Season adopts the motto “Dance Hong Kong: Our City”. It draws inspiration from Hong Kong people’s collective memory and cultural imprints, portraying our city’s stories on stage. Our productions span such themes as Hong Kong film, martial arts, literature, the aesthetics of everyday life, and local culinary culture, not only showcasing the city’s unique humanistic character but also highlighting the profound legacy of Chinese culture.

HKDance and The TENG Company of Singapore will collaborate for the first time, jointly presenting the season opening Voyage of the Eight Graces*. Inspired by the essence of traditional Chinese culture — Music, Go, Calligraphy, Painting, Poetry, Fragrance, Flowers and Tea—this new work embodying the refined elegance of Eastern aesthetics. 

Drawing creative inspiration from Bruce Lee’s philosophical spirit, Kung Fu Artistry —Bruce Lee’s No Way as Way received widespread acclaim at its premiere last year. This season, the production embarks on a mainland tour to three cities. The tour concludes with a triumphant return to Hong Kong in January 2027, launching the 30th anniversary celebration of Hong Kong’s return to the Motherland and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

HKDance’s classic dance drama L’Amour Immortel, reimagining the golden era of Hong Kong cinema, together with the new work Chromas of a Dream—Fleeting Light and Shadows of Eileen Chang, pay respective tributes to Hong Kong’s legendary music and screen icon Leslie Cheung and literary icon Eileen Chang.

Next summer, our Children and Youth Troupes present the family-friendly musical dance drama Dim Sum Adventures@Lung Fung Teahouse 3.0, featuring more than 400 young performers alongside professional dancers. Centred on authentic Hong Kong teahouse culture and the warmth of human connection, this dance drama celebrates the most familiar and endearing aspects of everyday life in Hong Kong.
