Dance of Strings
A stage performance where the wave of rhyme meets the shape of emotion
Synopsis
The journey of exploration starts with familiar tunes of Chinese folk songs that emerged from the encounters of the bow and the string. The dance steps weaved the encounters into endless intersections that prompt resonating emotions. .
In this piece of performance, Yang Yuntao, Artistic Director of Hong Kong Dance Company, works closely with Yao Jue, world-renowned violinist and Lam Fung, top Asia composer, to examine Chinese folk music with a Hong Kong perspective. It has been 5 years since Yang’s last cooperation with Yao in the Grand Dance Poem of The Butterfly Lovers. Once again, they create a beautiful performance that delights and enchants the audience.
