Pre-show Talk | Of Shan and Shui, with Screening of Documentary Film “Stillness In The Wave”

A Cross-disciplinary Exchange – one theme in two representations

“Stillness in the Wave”, a documentary filmed by award-winning independent filmmaker Cheuk Cheung, charts the rehearsals and artistic journey of the dance performance “Shan Shui: An Ode to Nature”. Through their encounters with different physical disciplines and philosophies, meditation and Chinese martial arts, the dancers are illuminated.

This is the first public screening of the film outside the cinema after its world premiere at “Jumping Frames — Hong Kong International Movement-image Festival 2022”. Filmmaker Mr Cheuk Cheung, along with Mr Yang Yuntao, Director and Choreographer of “Shan Shui: An Ode to Nature”, will share their respective creative journeys in different art forms, their experience of and insights gained from this cross-disciplinary exchange project.
