Lau Cheuk-yi started learning Chinese dance and ballet at a very young age. She joined the Gifted Young Dancer Programme of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in 2016 and subsequently took the Academy’s BFA programme. During her studies, she participated in productions such as Thousand Lives, Mosuo Women, The Snow, Drum, and Beyond Calligraphy, and received several scholarships, such as the William Au Arts Education Scholarship, the Society of APA Scholarships, Jacky Cheung Scholarships, For Our Future Scholarship. In 2019, Lau was chosen to perform in the International Youth Dance Festival with the HKAPA in Macau. After graduating, she participated in productions such as Dance Plaza by HKDC Outreach and Education Department and 18dART Ethnicversity Dance Show. She was also involved in dance education at different schools and organisations as a dance instructor. 

Lau joined the Hong Kong Dance Company as a contract dancer in 2022.
