Beijing Dance Academy Chinese Dance Graded Examination Courses

Based on the curriculum content of the Beijing Dance Academy Chinese Dance Graded Examination Courses (abbreviated as Beijing Grade Examinations). Course content includes training the basic skills of Chinese Dance, physical co-ordination and overall flexibility, bodily joint flexibility, musical rhythmic training and more, alongside the choreography of dance fragments and various other combinations. All our tutors are qualified instructors of the Beijing Grade Exams. Said tutors shall recommend eligible students to participate in the Beijing Grade Examinations each year. Hong Kong Dance Company also arranges dance appreciation events, lesson observation classes, and showcase performances for its students.

Beijing Dance Academy Chinese Dance Graded Examination Courses (Level 1)

The First-Level course mainly lays the foundation for beginning learners of Chinese Dance. It leads students to better understand the fundamental parts of the human body: (the head, neck, back, waist, arms, hands, knees, ankles, and toes).


1. The central tenet is to conduct preliminary training that develops good habits to find relaxation, stretching, flexibility and agile movement of the various body parts. The training also helps students identify their body's left and right sides.
2. Learn to recognise musical rhythm and develop children's ability to move in step with rhythm.
3. Cultivate children's mentality to happily learn dance and gain a passion for Chinese Dance.

Entry Requirement: Children between the ages of 4-7 years old, Beginners of Dance. 
To participate in the Beijing Graded Examinations, candidates must be 5 years old on or before December 31, 2026.

The 2026 Full-Year Tuition Fee is divided into Two Instalments (Level 1):
First Semester Tuition Fee (21 lessons in total) $5,430 
Tuition after 20% discount $4,344
Showcase Performance Fee $720
Annual membership fee of "Friends of HKDance" $120 
Total Cost $5,184

Remarks

Recommended for Examination:

Students who have attained an 80% attendance rate shall be recommended by their teacher to take the examination. Students who are expected to sit for the Beijing Grade Examinations shall be separately charged by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority.

Should any student fail to reach the required 80% attendance rate, even if the student has registered for examination with the Hong Kong Examination and Assessment Authority, they will not be able to take the examination. Also, the said student's examination fee(s) cannot be refunded.

Graduation Performances::

All students must participate in the showcase performance. Regardless of whether students perform, all students must pay the performance fee. After the performance, students will take ownership of all their own performance costumes and headwear, which are to be kept and stored by said students.

Dance Aptitude Assessment (Level 2 to 13):

Depending on the situation, the Company will require students to take a Dance Aptitude Assessment to better assign said students to an appropriate class. (Students currently enrolled in the Beijing Grade Examinations course are exempted).
