Graduated from the Chinese Dance Department of Guangzhou Art School in 2013, Hou Xuchen was awarded full scholarship to study at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in the same year, majoring in Chinese Dance. Hou represented the Academy on numerous overseas performance tours, visiting Canada, Germany and Korea, etc. He was awarded HKAPA’s Dean of Dance Scholarship as well as The Margaret Zee Outstanding Performer Award.

After graduating from the HKAPA in 2017, Hou joined the Hong Kong Dance Company and has since performed in various productions including Lady White of West Lake, Four Seasons in Tale of Three Cities, Dream of the Past: Ancient Chinese Court Dances, solo in Fun Ride with Big Beard – Dancing Poems, Liu San Jie, pas de deux in Ode to the Silk Road, “ 8/F Platform” – Neon and Jing, and A Tale of the Southern Sky. He is also a researcher of HKDC’s Research study on Chinese martial arts and Chinese dance.
