The dejected ugly duckling, a beautiful mermaid princess, the adorable Thumbelina... Characters from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales keep us company when we are growing up; they are important friends for children all over the world. This summer, they will lead us into a world full of imagination and miracles through joyous steps and dances full of childhood innocence. Join them on a heartfelt journey of discovery.

After a year of preparation and rehearsal, more than a hundred dancers from the Children’s and Youth Troupes of the Hong Kong Dance Company transform themselves into fanciful characters, recreating the world of fairy tales on stage. The colourful children's dance drama Childhood Wonderland will be staged at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre from 6 to 8 August 2010 and at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium on 14 August.

Featuring five of the best loved stories by Andersen – The Ugly Duckling, The Old Bachelor’s Nightcap, Thumbelina, The Red Shoes and The Little Mermaid – each chapter of Childhood Wonderland will shimmer with dreams, love and yearning for truth, beauty and virtue.
