Established by the former
Urban Council in 1981 with the aim of promoting Chinese
dance, the Hong Kong Dance Company (HKDC) was formally
incorporated in April 2001 and financially supported by
the HKSAR Government. HKDC aims to promote Chinese dance
culture and develop the arts identity of Hong Kong. It
seeks to provide a platform where dance addresses the
world around it. It sets its sights on the artistic
development of its artists and audiences and projecting
that vision in Hong Kong and abroad. HKDC is now looking
